Rafael Benitez has started a three way race for the Liverpool left back spot between Fabio Aurelio, Emiliano Insua and Andrea Dossena.
Benitez was talking about Aurelios impressive display in his sides win at Portsmouth, but claimed although Aurelio played well, a midfield spot will not be a possible position for the brazilian, due to Steven Gerrard, Javier Mascherano, Xabi Alonso, and youngsters such as Damien Plessis battling out for the midfield roles. Benitezs options have been boosted after Insuas return from the U-20 World Cup after representing Argentina. The youngster had a run in the side before leaving, and heavily impressed. Benitez has also claimed Steven Gerrard has a chance of playing a role in his sides game againgst Manchester City at Anfield on sunday.
