Coppell resigns as Reading boss

Reading boss Steve Coppell has quit the club after failing to guide the Royals back to the Premiership at the first time of asking. It is understood that the coach will be taking a year out of football before planning a return.

    It is understood that Coppell had told those close to him that the would quit the club if he failed to achieve promotion at the first time of asking.



    Reading endured a difficult season, and now will be looking for a new boss. It is understood that Shaka Hislop has emerged as a shock candidate for the vacant role.
