The Reds are in hot pursuit of Napoli's highly rated Argentine striker, Ezequiel Lavezzi, the latest reports suggest that Liverpool are set to offer an improved contract tripling the wages for the player. They had a £22m offer rejected by Napoli a few days ago.

  • Liverpool contacted the player's agent and the £22m bid was made, which Napoli turned down. Lavezzi is touted as the new Maradona at Napoli, and the fans love him, the club's president Aurelio has issued a hands off warning.

Liverpool are hopeful that they can land the player with an improved bid and contract offer, if the deal happens Lavezzi would spearhead the Reds attack with Fernando Torres next season.
