  • Man City has started adding high profile players to their club, thanks to the wealthy Arabs, they have signed Gareth Barry as their first aquisition of the summer. The £12m deal is a hard blow to Liverpool who were pursuing Barry for a couple of seasons and had a £10m bid rejected in recent weeks.

Barry was hugely delighted to have the £110,000-a-week contract, the 28 year old flew from England training to talk with the Man City boss Mark Hughes. Barry said that the team is heading in the direction he want to go,and a few more additions will make them the top club.

"There is great potential here and I am sure that there will be more additions," said a delighted Barry.

Mark Hughes is a keen admirer of Barry, and he said that it is great to sign a hard-working player like Barry. "Gareth is one of the top midfielders in the Premier League,we are delighted to conclude this deal."

Aston Villa fans are not happy as their skipper joined Man City. Barry had earlier announced that he would leave Villa Park only for Chmpions League football. But, Barry has signed for a club which will not even play in the Europa league.

The few other players from the Premier League that are on Man City's hitlist are Carlos Tevez, Jolen Lescott, Roque Santa Cruz and Kolo Toure.
