Valencia deny Villa sale again

Valencia deny Villa sale again

22 June 2009 - 22:12

Valencia have moved yet again to reject the rumours that David Villa will be heading for the spinning doors at the Mestalla this summer, insisting that the player is indispensable and an important part of the rebuilding process at the Che.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Jordi Bruixola, a Valencia spokesman, again rejected the talk that David Villa would be quitting the club.

"About the information that has been appearing concerning our player David Villa, the club want to reiterate that we are not negotiating with any club, neither Spanish nor foreign, about the possibility of transferring villa.

"The president made it very clear what Valencia's stance is during Friday's press conference. David Villa is a very important player for us.

"Also, it must be made clear that no director from the club has thought of travelling to South Africa to talk with the player.

"The player is currently focused on the Spanish nation team and this is more important.

"We would like to stop talking about this situation as it is not good for either the player or for our club to discuss it on a daily basis.

"It was left very clear last Friday that we count on David Villa. We understand that he will have had some difficult days and that any person could have been affected by it all.

"Obviously, when the time is right, we will talk with Villa so that he understands that the project at Valencia is very ambitious and that they count on him."
