Wenger hits out at transfer critics

Wenger hits out at transfer critics

24 June 2009 - 10:42

Arsene Wenger has again defended his youth policy after many criticised his lack of activity in the transfer market over the last three years. So far this summer, the Gunners have landed Thomas Vermaelen.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts
  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players

  • However, Wenger was quick to defend his policy, insisting that he knew what he was doing.

The Frenchman said: "I'm fed up with people who think I have £100million in the bank yet don't want to spend it. How can people think that?

"The pride of the club is in having moved to a new stadium, while maintaining the team at the top level.

"We cannot pump £100m into it, so we must keep faith in what we are doing as I believe this team does a lot of things right."
