Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has refused to give up on signing Spain international midfielder Xabi Alonso this summer from Liverpool. Real's £25 million offer had been rebuffed by Rafa Benitez.
Perez said: "It's fundamental that we sign Xabi Alonso. He is a key player to our project."
It seems that Liverpool's valuation of £32 million is way off the mark from Real Madrid's valuation, and the player may be forced to spend another year at Anfield.
Real Madrid have already completed the high profile signings of Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo this summer, and Alonso would be the perfect addition to the squad.
