Luke Young has announced his international retirement after turning down the opportunity of playing for England in this weekend's friendly against Brazil. The defender is on compassionate leave after the death of his brother.

A statement on the FA's website read: “The England management were aware of Luke Young’s position but yesterday sought to clarify that this was still the case."
