Rumours that Real Madrid will try to sign Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard appear to have some foundation, as a source close to the midfielder refused to rule out that the lifelong Liverpool fan will quit the club this summer.

Real Madrid's new boss Jose Mourinho has brought with him a list of transfer targets and Steven Gerrard is at the very top of that.



Liverpool will not welcome any approach from Real Madrid for their star man, but will certainly find a 40 million GBP offer hard to resist.



Gerrard himself is currently focusing on the World Cup with England but sources close the midfielder have said he will be ready to listen to offers.
