Newcastle may make an offer for Paraguay international striker Oscar Cardozo, the player Alan Pardew is lining up to replace Andy Carroll. Cardozo; who currently plays for Portuguese giants Benfica, is considered one of the best players in Portugal. A price of £13 million has been suggested.
Four outstanding seasons at Benfica have seen Cardozo score over 100 goals for his club. The 28 year old, 6 foot 4 striker is famous in Portugal for his using his height in the box; scoring over 10 goals last season with his head.
Cardozo, despite his age, will not be allowed to leave on the cheap. The report eyefootball has received indicates that Newcastle may have to pay as much as £13 million to land the player who famously scored the winning penalty in the shoot out against Japan during the World Cup last summer.
Cardozo also won the golden boot last year after scoring 38 goals in one season.
