Ferguson praises his men

Sir Alex Ferguson has praised his Man Utd side after the setback of a huge injury list seemed to be forgotten by his young Man Utd side that romped to an impressive 4-0 victory over Man Utd, with goals from Rooney, Tevez and a Ronaldo brace.

  • Man Utd now move to top of the league - albeit temporarily - and Sir Alex Ferguson said: Ferguson "Going top (is most pleasing) but we had to win to get there.

"Considering all the things that happened I think we've done fantastically well.

"I was very pleased with the football in the second half. We had 10 players missing in the end but great credit to all the players who played today.

Ryan Giggs said of the victory, "we didn't get into the flow of things until the end of the first half - we were frustrated but knew if we waited chances would come.

"Our movement and tempo was a lot quicker, we spread the play, everyone contributed really."

Man Utd's injury curse continued however as Louis Saha was injured before the off and Vidic and O'Shea had to be withdrawn with injuries.
