Tottenham chase Aldo de Nigris

03 July 2011 - 05:20

Tottenham have made a £5m offer for Mexico international striker Aldo de Nigris, according to reports from Mexico. Eyefootball.com understands that Tottenham have already been in contact with Monterrey, de Nigris' club, to discuss a deal.

  • Chelsea planning shock move for Man City winger?
  • Arsenal handed injury boost on defender ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • Aldo de Nigris was one of the stars of Mexico's Gold Cup winning campaign, bagging four goals and regarded as one of the best players of the tournament.

The 27 year old has yet to try his luck in European football, but is reportedly eager to do so.

Spurs will be looking to bring in de Nigris as a replacement for Robbie Keane and Roman Pavlyuchenko should either of them leave White Hart Lane.

De Nigris has already spoken of a potential transfer away from Monterrey: "There is a very advanced negotiation with a European team that is interested in me. They have seen me in action during the Gold Cup and have sent a proposal to Monterrey.

I can't say the name of the team, the only thing that I can say is that it belongs to a very important European league, one of the most important ones.

"It's a team that has the chance to play in the Europa League next year. I can't say the name of the team because I have been asked not to. In the next days I will be having a meeting with the board members of Monterrey, but they have already said to me that there will not be any problem in letting me go."
