Aly Cissokho on Newcastle radar

Defender Aly Cissokho could still be playing in the Premier League before the transfer window shuts, as Newcastle are reportedly locked in discussions with Lyon over his transfer.

Newcastle have apparently offered 6m GBP for the defender, around 2m short of Lyon's valuation.

However, Newcastle representatives are reportedly flying into France this weekend to thrash out terms with Lyon.

Cissokho had been linked with moves to Liverpool earlier in the summer; and Arsenal are also still believed to be in the race to sign the left back.

Newcastle and Arsenal are both looking for suitable replacements for their left backs who left this summer, Jose Enrique and Gael Clichy.
