Lukaku's Stoke loan ruled out

Stoke's attempts to bring Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku to the club on loan were doomed from the start, according to the Premier League.

A rule states: ''a Temporary Transfer to a Club may not take place in the Transfer Window in which the Transferor Club acquired the Player's registration''.

Therefore, Lukaku will stay at Chelsea and fight for a first-team place.
