Arsenal appear to be interested in signing Saturn's Russian/Finnish midfielder Alexei Eremenko. Arsenal had already been linked with a move for the midfielder in the past, but sources close to the club claim Wenger is about to snap up Alexei on a 4 year deal for £5 million.

Eremenko is useful on either flank and could be a direct replacement for Fredrik Ljungberg. Alexei can also play just behind the striker and if signed could be a useful addition to the squad. Arsenal had already attempted to sign Eremenko over 2 years ago before he joined the Russian side Saturn.

Eremenko's father, Alexei Eremenko Sr., is a famous Russian footballer that has played for Spartak Moscow and Dinamo Moscow.

In the World Cup 2006 Qualifiers Eremenko grabbed 8 goals, 4 of which were from free kicks and during his time at HJK Helsinki, Finnish legend Jari Litmanen labelled Eremenko as the future of the national side. Eremenko has recently fallen out with the coach at Saturn and has not been in the starting XI for them.
