Totti dope inquiry dismissed

The Italian FA has dismissed a doping inquiry as Francesco Totti was 13 minutes late for a urine test following a game with Torino on May 13 because he was receiving attention for a knock to his surgically repaired left ankle, Italian media reported Saturday.

The news was made public for the first time Friday when the federation announced that the case had been dismissed.

Totti was questioned in August by the Italian Olympic Committee's anti-doping prosecutor Ettore Torri, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport. Totti explained why he was late and the team doctor confirmed the story.
