Alves: its fine at Sevilla

Daniel Alves is confident Sevilla can prevail at Villarreal on Sunday night and continue their resurgence up the Primera Liga. A 2-0 win over Staeua Bucharest has helped improve confidence in the Sevilla side.

"We believe that we are capable of winning against any team, with respect to all our opposition," he told www.sevillafc.es.

"We are visitors, but we have to go into the game with this attitude. The result which Real Madrid achieved (5-0 win in September) in their stadium was exaggerated because Villarreal have a very strong team and this does not happen often in their stadium."

Alves knows nothing will be decided this weekend but wants his side to put as many points on the board as possible to remain in the title hunt.

"To attain results is always important, however the league will not be decided on Sunday," he said.

"We have now got over our four-game losing streak and we have won various games and we can hold our heads high.

"Our mentality will be to be strong defensively because up front we are scoring goals. Jimenez, like the defender he once was, wants the team to keep a clean sheet and at least get a draw, and if not a draw then a win."

The Brazilian has been impressed with Jimenez's style of management since taking over at the helm.

He said: "The manager is putting his character and intensity into the team during training sessions, but the most important thing is that we are winning games.

"Our qualification for the Champions League has almost been assured. The game against against Arsenal (on November 27) will be beautiful because it is possible that we will achieve qualification.

"It will be an important test for us and we will see how it goes."
