Gus Poyet top of Sunderland's managerial hot list
Former Brighton manager Gus Poyet is wanted by Sunderland chairman Ellis Short. The Black Cats are hopeful that the Uruguayan manager will be persuaded to move to Sunderland as a replacement for Paolo Di Canio.
It is being widely reported that Poyet is the new favourite to take over from Italian manager Di Canio, who was relieved of his duties on Monday.
