Newcastle United interested in Brazilian starlet Abner

Newcastle United are reportedly monitoring the progress of Brazilian starlet Abner, with a view of making a January bid for the player.

The 17-year-old left-back, who currently plys his trade for Brazilian outfit Coritiba, has been associated with a switch to Europe, after having a string of top-class performances in the recent Under-17s FIFA World Cup in United Arab Emirates.

According to talkSPORT, the Magpies have been named as one of the contenders for the Abner's services, with the likes of Roma and Benfica also keen on signing the player. 

Abner is currently valued at around £1.5m by Coritiba.
