Everton after Katsouranis
Everton are considering making a January transfer move for Greek midfielder Kostas Katsouranis. The former AEK Athens man has been a first-team regular for Benfica, but the link to Everton may tempt the Portuguese giants into a sale.
In Greece Katsouranis is regarded as one of the best Greek footballers of his generation, and Benfica may allow Kostas to leave for a fee estimated to be around £5m.
A relative unknown when he was brought to the Estadio da Luz by Fernando Santos, the Greek international proved to be one of the best imports into the Portuguese Liga in the 2006/07 season.
Katsouranis signed a 4 year contract with Portuguese side SL Benfica on 23 June 2006 and Everton may have to pay more than expected as Juventus are also known to be interested in the Greek midfielder.
