City offer £12m for Anelka

Bolton striker Nicolas Anelka could be heading out of the club after Sven-Goran Eriksson has reportedly upped his offer for the Frenchman to £12 million from £10 million. Chelsea have already made an offer of £11 million.

But it's now emerged the Eastlands outfit are planning to better Chelsea's offer of £10million with an extra £2million after City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson missed out in the race to sign Inter Milan star Adriano, who is on the verge of a loan move to Sao Paulo.

Bolton have tried desperately to hang on to the French striker who is reportedly happy at Bolton but has always been known to wish to move to a larger club at some stage.
