Ciaran Clark extends Aston Villa stay
Aston Villa defender Ciaran Clark has committed his future to the club by signing a new long-term deal.
The Republic of Ireland international has made over 130 appearances for the Villains since graduating from the club's academy in 2008.
Clark revealed his delight at signing a five-year contract extension with the West Midlands outfit.
"I'm absolutely thrilled to sign a new contract. I've been at Aston Villa since I was a kid and I want to continue to play for this fantastic football club." he told the club's official website.
"Everyone is looking forward to the new season and I'm delighted to be going into the opening game on Saturday knowing my long-term future has been sorted."
Villa visit newcomers Bournemouth in the Premier League opener on Saturday.
