Fabricio Coloccini signs new Newcastle United contract
Argentine defender Fabricio Coloccini has brushed speculation regarding his future by signing a new deal at Newcastle United.
The centre-back had been linked with a move to Crystal Palace, following the summer arrival of Anderlecht's Chancel Mbemba at the Magpies.
However, the 33-year-old has opted to extend his stay at St.James Park by signing a one-year contract extension.
"I am very happy to have signed a new contract. I have been here for seven years and I love this Club. I feel part of the family at Newcastle United." he told the club's official website.
"Headlines and speculation are normal when a player only has one year left on their contract, but the Club have shown they want to keep me and that has made me feel very happy and very proud."
Coloccini joined the Magpies from Deportivo La Coruna in 2008.
