Arsenal have been handed a major boost in signing Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee with Bayern Munich no longer interested.

The Dutchman has had a good second season with Bologna, scoring 12 goals and registering seven assists in all competitions.

His form has caught the eye of several Italian clubs, but they are unlikely to have the financial muscle to compete with Arsenal.

Meanwhile, the Gunners have also received a boost with Bayern not looking to activate the €40m buy-back clause in Zirkzee's deal.

The German giants are happy with Harry Kane leading the line and they have a young striker in Mathys Tel to provide back-up.

This has handed the advantage to the Gunners in the pursuit of Zirkzee, but they still need to negotiate a fee with Bologna for him.

The Serie A outfit want around €50-60m for his services and a transfer could also depend on his current injury situation.

Zirkzee suffered a hamstring injury in the recent win over Napoli and further examination is expected before a timescale.
