Liverpool, Arsenal to battle for Gotze

Liverpool and Arsenal will reportedly go head-to-head in the race to land Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze. The German international has had a tough time at the Bavarian giants this season, and this has led to claims that he could seek a fresh challenge in the summer.

According to The Star, the 23-year-old is considering his future at the Allianz Arena having struggled to earn a regular starting berth in recent months.

The report goes on to state that the Gunners and Reds are keeping tabs on the player's developments, and could well go on a transfer tussle to secure his signature this summer.

Gotze has racked over 100 appearances for Bayern since his move from Borussia Dortmund in 2013.

The talented playmaker netted the winning goal as Germany beat Argentina by a 1-0 scoreline in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
