United agree terms with Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United have moved one step closer to the signing of Bruno Fernandes from Sporting after agreeing personal terms with the Portuguese midfielder.

The 24-year-old has been linked with both United and Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window and his agent Miguel Pinho has been in discussions with both teams.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Red Devils are understood to have leapfrogged Spurs in the race to pursue the midfielder after agreeing terms over a £100,000-a-week contract through his representative.

The same outlet claims that the club will proceed to hold talks regarding the transfer fee with Sporting, though the Primeira Liga side are reluctant to accept anything less than £70m for their prized asset.

Fernandes, who can feature in both the central and attacking midfield positions, bagged 32 goals and 18 assists for Sporting during the course of the previous campaign.

He was also linked with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City last month but the Premier League duo seem to have ended their interest after knowing of Sporting's valuation.
