Parma forward Gervinho in possible England return?

Parma and Ivory Coast international forward Gervinho is weighing up a return to the Premier League. The attacker, who had a previous spell playing under Arsene Wenger in England, is reportedly wanted by Premier League newcomers Norwich City for a cut price 2 million euro transfer fee.

32-year-old Gervinho, who came through the ranks at ASEC Mimosas before embarking on a European career with the likes of Beveren, Le Mans, Lille and more recently Roma, Hebei China Fortune and now Parma, is deemed surplus to requirements at Parma despite an impressive campaign last year.

Gervinho moved to China in a surprise transfer deal and failed to live up to expectations in Asia and thus a return to Europe quickly beckons.

In his return to Italy, Gervinho scored 11 goals in 30 games for Parma and is a very popular player with the club's fans. The Serie A outfit are ready to sell Gervinho in order to acquire other more younger players, with the Ivorian reportedly having just 12 months left on his existing contract.

It is understood that Norwich City have been restricted with their summer transfer budget, leaving manager Daniel Farke seeking cheaper cut price options on the transfer market. Gervinho would represent great value for money at just 2 million euros, and would not take a significant dent out of Norwich City's budget for the summer.

Norwich City are carefully planning their return to the Premier League and Daniel Farke admitted just yesterday that the club may not spend any further money, but news of Gervinho's transfer is sure to excite the newly promoted club's fanbase.

In a conversation with reporters just yesterday, Farke quipped: "Of course I am realistic. Of course we would like to add some quality because when you are able to spend money and add some quality, you have a bigger chance to stay in this league and be successful but we know we have to compete with our tools and that's what we are trying to do.

"I'm happy with my group of players. I won't complain and I'll work with whatever I've got and I'm pleased with that. We have all these lads together and I expect a quiet last two weeks."

Gervinho, who captained the Ivory Coast at under-23 international level, has represented his country a total of 80 times and has scored 22 goals.

The player is likely to provide competition for the likes of Onel Hernandez and Teemu Pukki at Carrow Road, with Gervinho expected to act as a backup player for the club's existing squad.
