Bolton boost survival hopes
Bolton boss Gary Megson hailed his battling side after an unlikely 1-0 victory over West Ham gave the Trotters an unlikely chance of rescueing a Premiership spot next season. Kevin Davies' goal boosted the despondent mood of the Bolton side.
"It is a massive result," Megson said. "We knew that if we won here but results went against us that would be a big blow, but that hasn't happened. Fulham being in the equation after beating Reading is a good thing. They have to play Birmingham, so what could have been a dead game and a pointless fixture is now a huge game. We've got to try and focus on getting as many points out of the remaining 12 as we can, and hope things start going for us.
"I went out before the players went out so that if there were going to be recriminations, we could get it out of the way.
"It never happened. There were a few banners up in the corner but they disappeared. It was the great backing from the fans that kept the players going in the last 10 minutes."
