Manchester United suffer fresh injury blow ahead of Everton clash

McTominay doubtful for Toffees clash

Manchester United could be without midfielder Scott McTominay when they face Everton on the road in Wednesday's League Cup quarter-final.

The Scotland international has been a regular in the starting lineup under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and he recently starred in the 6-2 league triumph over Leeds United where he scored a brace in the opening three minutes.

Towards the end of the game, he had to leave the playing field with an evident groin issue and Solskjaer is unsure when the midfielder could return to first-team action.

"Scott, it seemed like a groin issue. I don't know. Hopefully, it won't be too long as he's not had any muscle injuries before. But I don't know how quickly he will recover," He told via the club's official website.

In the absence of McTominay, Pogba is expected to accompany Fred in the centre of the park. The Frenchman was an unused substitute against the Whites and will be eager to put up a strong display in midweek.

United beat the Toffees by a 3-1 scoreline in the Premier League meeting at Goodison Park earlier this season. Prior to that, they went winless in three games against the Merseyside outfit.
