Solskjaer keeping tabs on Haaland

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that he is keeping tabs on the progress made by Erling Braut Haaland.

Haaland is widely regarded as one of the best young strikers and he has registered 39 goals from just 41 appearances for Borussia Dortmund.

The marksman has been tipped to join a bigger club this summer and United have been mentioned as one of the interested teams.

Speaking to Norwegian outlet VG, Solskjaer has now acknowledged that he is monitoring the performances of Haaland, who he managed at Molde.

He told: "Erling will have a fantastic career. I'm following Erling. I've always said that. Was it 18 months we had together or something?

"Almost two years, maybe. A wonderful time. He will definitely have a great career for both Norway and his club."

Solskjaer was eager to bring Haaland to Old Trafford in January 2020, but United's reluctance to include a release clause scuppered the deal.

Dortmund accepted to insert the £68m buy-out clause which will become active in June 2022, but reports claim that he could be sold prior to that.

Manchester City are leading the race and there are suggestions that Dortmund may be tempted to sell him for £100m this summer.
