Solskjaer confirms Bailly contract talks

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that the club have started negotiations with Eric Bailly regarding a new contract.

The Ivorian has been with the Red Devils since the summer of 2016, but has failed to establish himself due to regular injuries.

He has managed to stay unscathed for most of the current campaign and Solskjaer has now acknowledged that renewal talks are underway.

Bailly's current deal with the club expires in June next year and the club are reportedly prepared to hand him a fresh four-year contract.

The 26-year-old has been in-and-out of the starting line-up this term, but has impressed whenever he has taken the field.

Irrespective of his extension, the club are likely to pursue another centre-back this summer and Solskjaer wants a left-footed option.

AS Monaco's Benoit Badiashile and Villarreal's Pau Torres are among the players being considered by the Mancunian giants.

They attempted to sign Badiashile last summer, but a deal failed to materialise as the approach was made close to deadline day.
