Manchester United target Portuguese star with 20 goal contributions
Manchester United are looking into a move for Sporting Lisbon attacker Pedro Goncalves, who is also on the radar of Liverpool.
The Portuguese has excelled in an attacking role this term and he has bagged 15 goals and five assists for the Primeira Liga giants.
While he has generally played as the number 10, he has also been effective from the right side of the attack on multiple occasions.
According to The Telegraph, Goncalves has been identified as the cheaper alternative to Jadon Sancho to bolster the right-wing department.
Goncalves' contract has a £51.7m release clause, but United could negotiate a lesser fee upfront by including performance-based add-ons.
The club have signed many players from Sporting in the past and most recently, Bruno Fernandes made the switch.
Fernandes has been a revelation for United with 35 goals and 21 assists from just 65 appearances in all competitions.
Liverpool are also interested in Goncalves and they could tempt them by offering him game time in his preferred position.
United have the attacking midfield role covered since the arrival of Fernandes. He has been an undisputed starter.
