Former Manchester United star joins Aston Villa
Ashley Young has joined Aston Villa on a free transfer. The 35-year-old has signed a one-year deal with the club.
Young left Manchester United for Inter Milan in January 2020, and he was a regular as they won the Serie A title last season.
He was offered a one-year extension by the Nerazzurri, but opted to snub their proposal for a return to the Premier League.
Young had offers from Watford and Burnley, but he has now rejoined the Villains whom he played for between 2007 and 2011.
Young is unlikely to command a starting role. He will reportedly cover up for Trezequet, who is out with a serious knee injury.
The Egypt international underwent a surgery in April, and he is anticipated to miss the majority of the 2021/22 campaign.
Villa are looking to complete most of their transfer business before pre-season. They recently signed Emiliano Buendia on a club-record deal.
