Man Utd can sign La Liga midfielder for €70m

Manchester United have been handed a big boost in signing Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong this summer, AS reports.

The Red Devils are expected to pursue a new defensive midfielder, and it has been reported that De Jong is one of the prime targets.

The Dutchman played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax for nearly three seasons, and there could be a reunion at Old Trafford next campaign.

According to AS, the Catalan giants have decided to place De Jong in the transfer market. They are prepared to sell him for €70m.

It is added that United and Bayern Munich are the favourites to sign him at the moment, but the former could have a minor advantage.

United won't offer De Jong with Champions League football next term, but the midfielder has a close relationship with incoming boss Ten Hag.

The 24-year-old would prefer a reunion with the Dutch tactician if he were to leave the Blaugrana during this summer's transfer window.
