Nicolas Jackson to move to Goodison Park

Everton look likely to spend £27 million to sign Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal, after meeting the player's minimum fee release clause in his contract. Everton manager Frank Lampard wants to sign at least four new faces before the transfer window closes, and Villarreal will be forced to sell if the release clause is matched and an agree is reached with the player on a contract.

The Senegal-born midfielder has appeared for Villarreal only a handful of times in recent years, but caught the eye yesterday with a goal in La Liga for the Yellow Submarines. Jackson moved to the Yellow Submarines in 2020 and spent a year playing for the club's 'B' team, before finally getting the call up to the club's first team.

Yesterday, Jackson's goal against Valladolid away proved that the player is a talent, and the Senegalese youngster is hoping a move to England will improve his chances of a call up to his country's full national team.

Meanwhile, Everton have been hoping to bring in at least four new faces before the transfer window slams shut at the end of August. Jackson will likely be a significant spend of that transfer budget.
