Newcastle and Arsenal battle to sign Hirving Lozano
Premier League leaders Arsenal are to battle with Newcastle United in the race to sign Mexico international winger Hirving Lozano, as Napoli have informed the 27-year-old that he is free to leave in the January transfer window should an offer of 20 million euros be received. Lozano has played in well over 100 games in Serie A, and previously had spells with Pachuca in Lozano's home country as well as a stint with PSV Eindhoven during 2017-19.
Arsenal look set to miss out on Ukraine international Mykhaylo Mudryk, as Chelsea have leapfrogged the Gunners in the race to sign the star; leaving Arsenal to scour the transfer market for potential alternatives.
Newcastle, on the other hand, are looking for a winger in the January transfer window and see Lozano as a good value investment. The Toon Army are confident that they can beat Arsenal in a race for the signing of Lozano, and also that they can afford to pay a higher salary to the Mexican star.
Lozano has 30 months remaining on his deal with Napoli.
