Chelsea close to agreeing new deal with midfielder
Chelsea are reportedly on the verge of agreeing a new deal with midfielder N'Golo Kante, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Frenchman has barely played this season due to a serious hamstring injury, but he is expected to make his comeback next month.
Ahead of this, talks are advanced with him over a new deal and Romano cites that an announcement could be made in the coming days.
Kante's current contract with the Blues expires at the end of the season but he is set to sign a two-year deal with an option for 12 months.
Chelsea have lacked proper defensive cover over the course of the campaign and Kante's return to action is a huge boost for them.
He may not be rushed to the starting XI amid his injury woes but he is certainly going to play a key role in their midfield.
If he is fully fit, Enzo Fernandez could be given more freedom to press forward and become a creative presence for Chelsea.
