Chelsea to complete transfer business with move for wonderkid

Chelsea's relentless activity in the transfer market this summer appears to be drawing to a close, but not before they try to complete one more transfer in signing midfield wonderkid Desire Doue from Rennes. At 18-years-old, Doue is one of the brightest young players in Ligue 1 and last season made 27 league appearances, with a return of 3 goals. Doue has also appeared for France's under-19 side.

Doue made his debut in August 2022 and after an excellent debut, the midfielder guaranteed his position in the club's line up for the remainder of the season.

Doue is primarily a central midfielder or a second striker, but his preferred position is as a creative outlet in attacking midfield. On occasion, he has been deployed deeper in midfield. 

Chelsea are confident that an agreement can be reached with Rennes for around 27 million euros, despite the player's club suggesting that Doue is not for sale. Doue himself wants to follow the likes of Axel Disasi out of France to the Premier League, and the offer of a seven-year deal is likely to tempt the coveted midfielder.
