Arsenal and Chelsea battle for Estevao Willian
Arsenal and Chelsea are monitoring the progress of Palmeiras winger Estevao Willian, also known as Messinho or Estevao, in a deal that could be worth $30 million. Chelsea have been proactive in their signings of youth talent, particularly Brazil, whilst Arsenal have been successful in their dealings for Brazilian players under the directorship of Edu.
It is understood that Palmeiras are ready to sell the attacker during the January transfer window; and have named their price should the player depart.
The 16-year-old only recently made his debut for the club, and has appeared a handful of times for Brazil's under-17 international team.
These impressive displays have caught the eye of numerous European sides. Chelsea are in pole position to secure the player, meanwhile Arsenal could hijack a potential deal. Arsenal have already procured Gabriel and Gabriel Martinelli in recent times and have an expansive scouting network in South America.
January will be a busy transfer window, with Arsenal said to be looking for attacking talent to turn around struggling December 2023 league performances.
