Man Utd front-runners to sign 20yo Italian defender

Manchester United are considered favourites to sign Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini during the summer transfer window.

The Italy international has been touted for a bigger challenge away from Bergamo and it could happen at the end of the season.

He is currently valued in the region of €50m but Calciomercato claim that his prise could be raised to €60m with a new deal soon.

Inter Milan, Napoli and Bayern Munich are among his admirers, but United pose the greatest danger in the pursuit of the player.

United spent €85m to bring Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta last summer and they could repeat the trick to land Scalvini this time.

They have a good working bond with the Serie A outfit, having also signed Amad Diallo from the club back in the winter of 2021.

The arrival of Scalvini could coincide with the exit of Raphael Varane whose contract expires at the end of the current season.

There are no plans to prolong his stay at the moment.
