Man Utd & Chelsea to battle it out for Dutch star

Manchester United and Chelsea could battle it out for the signing of Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong at the end of the campaign.

The Red Devils have been long-term admirers of the Dutchman and they failed to land his signature from the Catalans in the summer of 2022.

The club agreed a deal worth 85 million euros with the La Liga giants, but they were unable to convince De Jong to agree personal terms.

The midfielder said that he was more than happy to stay put, but his stance could change this summer amid the lack of contract progress.

His current deal expires in June 2026 and the midfielder has not responded to a new contract offer from the club for the last three months.

This could pave the way for his big-money exit this summer and it is claimed that United and Chelsea could pay a lot for him.

Barcelona are set to demand 100 million euros this time, having seen the nine-figure sales of Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez.
