Berbatov on the double
Berbatov on the double
Bulgaria bounced back from their defeat to the Netherlands on Saturday to reiterate their qualification chances with a solid home win over Luxembourg. Tottenham striker Berbatov grabbed two goals as Man City's midfielder Martin Petrov scored the third.
Berbatov scored two goals in two minutes as he hit both home in the 27th and 28th minutes. Petrov scored from the spot in the 54th minute as everyone thought Berbatov would complete his hattrick.
Berbatov grabbed his first as he headed home after taking on a free kick from Aston Villa midfielder Stilian Petrov. His second was excellent as he sneaked a cheeky little lob over the Luxembourg keeper Jonathan Joubert.
The result leaves Bulgaria with a great chance of qualifying from Group G, however Romania or Holland will need to drop points in order for this to happen.
