Man Utd eyeing loan deal for South American star
Manchester United are looking at the option of signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte on an initial loan deal, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Red Devils are determined to sign a new defensive midfielder and Ugarte has been identified as the main target. The 23-year-old has already agreed personal terms with them.
It is now reported that United are unlikely to meet the asking price (€70m) to sign Ugarte this summer, having already spent €94m up front on Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro.
Instead, they are exploring a loan deal for Ugarte with an obligation to buy. PSG are about to sign Benfica wonderkid Joao Neves which could pave the way for Ugarte's exit.
It remains to be seen whether the French champions will consider United's proposal. Ugarte has also been on the radar of Barcelona, but they can't afford him as well.
Barcelona are still under FFP restrictions set by La Liga. They can only spend 25 percent of the revenue at the current point of time.
