Joaquín Strikes Back At Koeman

Valencia winger Joaquín Sánchez has sensationally retorted at his former manager Ronald Koeman after the Dutchman made some unsavoury comments directed at him very recently.

ronald Koeman was sacked by Valencia last month after leading the club to just two points off the relegation zone. New coach Voro then took over and guided Los Che to safety.

Koeman parted the Mestalla under a cloud and that was just the beginning of a bitter spit-spat. Recently Koeman was quoted as saying this about the Valencia player Joaquin:

"Joaquin was, for example, one of their support, who was bought for €30 million and who is only worth €30 on the pitch."

The former Real Betis star has hit back inwith Radio Punto, the Spanish international exposed Koeman's antics at the club aand also blamed him for costing him a place in the Spain squad for next month's Euro 2008 finals.

Joaquin said:

"Koeman was a person who looked past people above their shoulders. He didn't have the cojones to say things to one's face, whereas I did.

"The only thing he was worried about was to have dinner with five or seven bottles of wine, for a warm, relaxing glow. And when he left he didn't say goodbye to the players - he just left with six or seven million euros.

"[New coach] Voro has gained in five matches the same or better than Koeman managed in five months! Koeman has knocked me down and I'm ashamed by what he's said about me. But I don't blame him entirely for my not going to Euro 2008 - just 99 per cent."

Joaquin was often left out of the squad by Koeman and had a torried season with Valencia. So much so that there is even a mild rumour floating in the air that Premiership side Everton would sign Joaquin this summer.
