Man Utd tried to sign Barcelona graduate
Manchester United made an ambitious move to sign Barcelona graduate Fermin Lopez during the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils were keen on signing an attacking midfielder earlier this summer and they were heavily linked with Lopez.
Football Espana now reveal that United were indeed interested in landing Lopez and made an offer worth £25m for his services.
However, Barcelona made it clear that he was not for sale despite their ongoing financial concerns due to Financial Fair Play.
Lopez has been a revelation for club and country. The Spaniard played a starring role during the recent Olympics in Paris.
The 21-year-old is presently a regular substitute for Barcelona and it is left to be seen whether he pushes for a future transfer.
If his playing time does not improve, he could be tempted to consider a new challenge away from the current La Liga leaders.
United could monitor him closely over the coming months.
