Arsenal handed early injury boost on midfielder
Arsenal have been handed an early injury boost on midfielder Mikel Merino, according to Standard Sport.
The Spain international joined the Gunners from Real Sociedad last summer, but he has yet to make his debut.
Merino suffered a minor fracture in his right shoulder in training and he has been a watching presence thus far.
It is now reported that Merino could be ahead of schedule with his recovery after his arm sling was removed last week.
Merino has been predicted to make his debut after the October international break, but he could be available prior to that.
Arsenal have made a good start to the Premier League season and they have accumulated 10 points from their first four games.
The London giants have a tough game against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Prior to that, they will be in Champions League action at Atalanta on Thursday which comes as a surprise.
The scheduling is far from ideal, considering City play in the competition on Wednesday against Inter at home.
