Manchester United are set to land the signature of Paraguayan wonderkid Diego Leon next summer, according to Uriel Lugt.

The Red Devils have been tracking the 17-year-old left-back from the start of the campaign and they are now close to sealing his transfer.

Negotiations are advanced with Cerro Porteno for his signature and an agreement could be finalised for around £4 million.

Leon has already made 19 appearances for Porteno this campaign. He has registered two assists in all competitions for them.

The youngster has also excelled with his tackling, duel winning ability and recoveries. He could be a top-class player in future.

United are expected to sign him in the near future, but he won't be joining them until next summer after turning 18 years of age.

Leon was also linked with the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool, but United have won the race after Ruben Amorim's intervention.

Amorim is likely to develop several youngsters under his tutelage. Leon may have been promised first-team football in the next few years.
