Amorim breaks silence on defensive mistakes vs Newcastle

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has acknowledged that the club can do much better after the 4-1 Premier League loss to Newcastle United on the road.

The Red Devils made multiple changes for the visit of St James' Park. They went into the game as underdogs and the result was as anticipated.

Speaking after the 4-0 loss, Amorim said that the club should have avoided defensive mistakes and they can't be repeated on Thursday evening.

He said: "I think you can see that we can do so much better. That's it. Let's focus on Thursday. All the mistakes we did today we cannot do Thursday."

The Red Devils played out a 2-2 draw against Lyon in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final. They host the second leg on Thursday.

United's season is entirely dependent on the competition. They must win the Europa League this term to qualify for Champions League football.

They face a stern challenge against Les Gones at Old Trafford next week.
