Chelsea set to beat Man Utd to 12-goal striker?
Chelsea are reportedly poised to beat Manchester United to the signing of Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap this summer.
Delap has had a good Premier League campaign with Ipswich. He has contributed 12 goals and provided a couple of assists.
He can leave for just £30 million after Ipswich's top-flight relegation and The Sun claim that Chelsea are the front-runners in the race.
The 22-year-old previously worked under Blues head coach Enzo Maresca when he was the academy manager at Manchester City.
Delap has opened the door for a reunion. The news is a huge blow for the Red Devils, who have also been in contact with his camp.
Arsenal have also enquired over his availability in recent weeks, but the Gunners are not planning to make an approach for him.
Delap could secure his transfer as soon as the transfer window reopens. Chelsea may want him in the squad for the Club World Cup, though he has been picked by England for the Under-21 Euros.
