Arsenal set to beat Chelsea to signing Dutch wonderkid

Arsenal are poised to beat Chelsea to the signing of Ajax wonderkid Jorrel Hato this summer, according to journalist Sebastien Vidal.

The 19-year-old is one of the best young defenders in European football and he has been tipped to pursue a bigger challenge this summer.

Arsenal and Chelsea have made calls over the past few weeks, but Vidal claims that the Gunners are making progress in the deal.

Talks are progressing with the player's camp and Ajax. The Gunners have offered a six-year contract on the table to the teenager.

They are reportedly ahead of the Blues in the pursuit and could secure an agreement worth £43 million for his services this month.

Hato has repeatedly said that he would like to follow in the footsteps of Jurrien Timber, who joined Arsenal from Ajax two years ago.

The youngster also considers the Dutchman as his role model and could be tempted to reunite with the 24-year-old in the coming days.
